Vans in collaboration with A.skate, the non-profit foundation created to introduce kids with autism to the engaging and therapeutic effects of skateboarding, are proud to present the Vans x A.skate collaboration for spring 2014. The Vans x A.skate partnership welcomes the first-ever Era Laceless Pro performance model to the Vans Pro Skate line, and marks Vans’ continued support of the A.skate vision.
The Vans x A.skate Era Laceless Pro features Vans Pro Skate performance upgrades plus the added benefit of an easy closure option. The custom “Obsessed to Skate” insole artwork by Jay Croft calls out autism’s obsessive tendencies and brings awareness to A.skate’s mission to channel that energy through skateboarding.
“Autism, like skateboarding, can be unpredictable and often times unruly,” says Crys Worley, founder of A.skate Foundation. “A.skate embraces the parts of autism that are hard to understand and gives children an outlet that is free of rules or judgement, allowing them to be social, without them being ‘social.’”
For every pair sold, a portion of the profit will go to support A.skate in their mission to empower kids with autism everywhere, including hosting nationwide autism-friendly skate clinics. The Vans and A.skate collaboration is available now.
