Gonz Joins ISFF & GoPro Filmmaker Challenge 2013
GoPro, has announced that Mark Gonzales, one of the most creative minds in skateboarding and most renowned artists of his generation, will participate in the first-ever International Skateboard Film Festival (ISFF) + GoPro Filmmaker Challenge 2013. Nine other participating filmmakers will join Mark, including Craig R. Stecyk III (USA), James Holman (New Zealand), Russell Houghten (USA), Philip Evans (Ireland), Takahiro Morita (Japan), Sebastien Abes (France), Ryan Dearth (USA), Elard Robles (Peru) and Dan Wolfe (USA).
Each filmmaker is creating a short film (three to eight minutes in length) on any subject related to skateboarding, exclusively shot and edited with the GoPro HERO3 Black Edition. A panel of judges from the Academy of Skateboard Filmmakers, along with a few invited guest judges, will select the winner based on originality, execution, and editing. The top three will be recognized and awarded at the ISFF Awards Ceremony.
Gonzales’ film, along with the nine other entrants, will be hosted exclusively on the International Skateboard Film Festival website.
The International Skateboard Film Festival is the premier film festival dedicated to honoring the creativity of filmmaking within the skateboard industry. Giving recognition to both the filmmakers and their creations, the festival opens a whole new path into the recognition of skateboarding as a lifestyle and a worldwide art form. The Festival is open to filmmakers from around the world, independent to emerging, skate shops, media, and brands. ISFF is sanctioned by the Academy of Skateboard Filmmakers, Arts & Science (ASF), an honorary organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and science of skateboard films. Comprised of some of the most iconic and influential figures in skateboarding, it is the industry’s first and only organization to represent the art of filmmaking. ISFF is proud to actively contribute to skateboard filmmaking creativeness in such way for its 4th annual edition which will take place in Los Angeles on November 10, 2013.
Now open for submissions, categories for the competition are: Best Brand, Best Director, Best Documentary, Best Independent & Emerging, Best Short, Best Skate Shop Video, Best Soundtrack and Best Solo Part. Submissions will be accepted through August 31, 2013.
