The skateboard community united on Saturday and exceeded expectations by raising $100,000 at the Sheckler Foundation’s 4th Annual SKATE FOR A CAUSE event, presented by etnies, in Lake Forest!
Skateboard legends Jay Adams and Dave Hackett were among the many that competed in the skatepark’s Shark bowl, but it was Christian Hosoi that took home the GoPro Legends Bowl title this year. Greg Lutzka won the Red Bull Tech Center Best Trick contest again and Austen Seaholm landed more tricks in a row than anyone including a tre-flip to tail on the quarterpipe, and a Sal flip from the quarterpipe to the bank. Local Lake Forest Am Dylan Witkin beat quite a few pros to win the Fred Water SkaterCross event. Dylan backed that effort up by winning the Tilly’s Stairs, Hubbas and Rails Best Trick contest too.
Every skateboarder that won gave their winnings back to the Sheckler Foundation too. The money raised will go to building a skatepark on the Port Gamble S’klallam Reservation as a part of the “Be the Change” project.
The Sheckler Foundation would like to extend a big thanks to all of the skateboarders, sponsors, and event goers who came out to support the cause and “Be the Change” by raising these funds.
