Help Support Ryan DeWitt
This weekend, a fire destroyed the house of the former Element TM and current Vans East Coast Head of Marketing, leaving him with just the items in the backpack he brought to work.
Friends of Ryan are asking for the help of the skateboard community to help him get back on his feet. You can make a donation in any denomination by clicking here. It’s quick and easy and you don’t need to set up an account to donate.
It would be great if donations can be sent between now and March 11th so Ryan can receive them as soon as possible. The money will be collected and distributed to Ryan via a check from WePay as soon as the fundraiser is over (March 11th).

This is a horrendous thing to have to go through, my heart goes out to Ryan DeWitt and anyone else who lived in his place!
I must say, though, that I think that it’s extra unfortunate that he has to reach out to strangers when he is such an asset to a company like Vans, a company which has so much more support to offer than random strangers on the internet. C’mon Vans, get it together and help your guy!
Hey, Brendan. Life lesson: shut your mouth when you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Vans started this fund and they are helping him out. The entire company. Losing EVERYTHING is not an easy fix though. So I chose to send this out to the skate community for additional help for my friend.
I hope you never find yourself in this position.
I agree that it’s very unfortunate what happened to Ryan but it’s not fair to accuse Vans of not helping out. Ryan’s friends aren’t exclusively reaching out to strangers but to friends and family alike. Donations are accepted from anyone that wants to help and I’m sure that includes staff at Vans. Luckily neither Ryan nor his dog were home at the time of the explosion.
